Traditional Neurofeedback

The brain is very adaptable and oriented towards healthiest functioning, so providing it with cues and opportunities to practice effective regulation can help move your brain wave patterns from dysregulation to a particular pattern of calm, alert and attentive. Over time this new skill can be accessed more and more easily, and may even become automatic.

Neurofeedback, or EEG biofeedback is a way to learn how to change your brain waves. It is a painless, non-medication procedure that occurs in the office. In session, one or two sensors will be placed on your scalp, and one clipped to each ear. I use an amplifier and computer software to show what is happening in the brain, at those sites, at that time. Then the you will play a video game using you brain. The game rewards your brain for new brain wave patterns, and this is how you learn. The new brain-wave pattern that you are learning is one that should allow you to operate more effectively.

I worked with Dr. Fine during a time in my life when I was very fragile – both medically and emotionally. I had suffered three consecutive concussions and was at the height of my symptoms and emotionally distraught when I first started working with her. I can’t say enough about how wonderful she is as a clinician and as a person. She was always incredibly supportive, compassionate and kind. As a clinician she was always very creative and thorough in her interventions. She used self hypnosis and imagery to manage my pain, biofeedback, neuro feedback and many other modalities to help me. She even created hypnosis tapes especially for me that I can listen to at home. She was in constant communication with my other providers, doctors etc., to make sure everyone was on the same page. She always ensured she was up-to-date on any medical or emotional issues to ensure that her approach was the most effective. Dr. Fine was a cornerstone of my recovery and I feel very blessed to have had her to work with during such a traumatic time.
With much thanks and gratitude
